Well, I have now watched the final four episodes of Enterprise. Not bad, all things considered; season 4 seemed to be generally better than seasons 1-3, and while not incredibly good was at least watchable.

Sadly, I had to watch them on my PC, since the DVD format they are in is incompatible with both my DVD players. I have yet to work out how to brighten the picture. So far, everything I have watched that arrived via torrent, whether downloaded by me, or by someone else has been very dark, at least when watched on the computer - the exception being the first episode of Dr Who. I have waiting on my machine episodes 3 of the current seasons of Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Battlestar Galactica. I think I may dump them onto a CD each and watch them in VCD format on the telly downstairs.

Assuming of course, that my attempts to upgrade Nero didn't bugger it completely. I shall set up the machine to do that for me in a moment or two; I seem to recall that transcoding takes just about forever on any machine, much less my venerable 800mhz Pentium III. I may as well let it happen while I am ironing a shirt for the morning, and taking a shower. Er, does that read properly? Just to be clear, I shall be doing them consecutively, not at the same time. That said, I'm sure there might be some kind of cheap sitcom laugh to be had out of ironing a shirt in the shower. Squelchy, though.

My new webcam is acting the slippery eel at the moment. When I open the software, and get it going, I can see my own picture well enough, and get sound too. Put the bugger through Messenger, and the picture comes through inverted. I don't know why. What I do know is that holding the webcam upside down is not going to be an option. I guess I should read the manual.

I hate reading manuals.

Now is the time for [livejournal.com profile] maleghast or [livejournal.com profile] crazedgiggles to make another quip about Macintosh, so I can ignore it again.

Right. Transcoding. BSG first, I think...
