Charley Says...

I'm in that awkward place right now, where I am both tired and wired; a combination of too much coffee and too many carbs, I suspect. An hour or so from now I should be ok, and ready for some sleep.

The weekend hasn't quite panned out as planned, largely through me reading 18th and assimilating 19th. That doesn't matter, it just means swapping the Saturday and Sunday plans around. Last night (Friday: for it is not Sunday until I have been to bed, regardless of what the clock tells me) [livejournal.com profile] colonel_maxim and I watched the usual West Wing on More 4 before catching up on Thursday's episode of House. Prior to that was a diverting demolition job on Channel 5, running a couple of trucks through the ideas of those conspiracy theorists who reckoned that NASA faked the moon landings and that the whole thing was filmed at Area 51. Very good.

The latter part of the evening took a turn for the mildly surreal when the pair of us watched a couple of episodes of Chorlton and the Wheelies on DVD (don't ask), followed by a (quite large) number of public information films dating from 1959 to 1983. Ah, what it was to see Alvin Stardust instruct kids - "You must be out of your tiny little minds!" - on the principles of crossing the road properly and safely. In its own way, "Protect and Survive" a film short about how to survive nuclear fallout was a little disturbing. I don't recall ever seeing that one on the telly.

Today, Glyn and Pete sans LJ and [livejournal.com profile] rumfuddle arrived (both belatedly and a day early - see earlier comment about confusing 18th and 19th), and we played a couple of board games - Fury of Dracula and old favourite taking more hours than it really should have on account of some sublime strokes of luck, good and bad, on both sides.

Tomorrow I must write. That's going to be interesting as I still don't know if it's going well or horribly wrong, see journal passim for details.

well, to bed now, I guess. I'm too tired to do anything, but too awake to sleep, so I'll listen to some music and doze as the mood takes me.
