Monday, May 1st, 2006 05:17 pmI am going to have to go and lie down in a minute and listen to music. I am very tired; I shall need to go to work tomorrow for a rest.
I have spent an inordinate amount of this weekend laughing. It has been very good and I now need to collapse quietly for a few hours and process things for a bit. I find that I am too tired to remember many of the fine details of conversations involving moustachioed maiden aunts acting as chaperone, and of sherry trifles in hoovers.
I do recall that thanks to a certain level of incompetence displayed by London Underground that the journey home took around two hours on Friday, and that had I been alone, I should have probably gone ballistic. As it was, the trip back via Finsbury Park and Oakley Park was made more than tolerable by the company of My GirlTM, so all was well. The official explanation was that there had been a signal failure at East Finchley, but we know different.
Triffids.
Disguised triffids are taking over the London Underground. We tried to catch the Northern Line from Euston but all High Barnet trains were being diverted to Colindale. We found out by the simple expedient of waiting for a succession of trains, none of which went where they were supposed to. The first one contained a rather shapely pair of legs which appeared to become a triffid from about knee level. There's some odd goings on on the Underground...
I have since received a text this afternoon from a homeward bound Elle to say that there are triffids on the line she was on, too. They're spreading. A bottle of salt water on the Tube to work tomorrow, then. Just to be safe.
Saturday was the day for meeting people:
pipsytip and
phil99 might have got a little more than they bargained for in meeting us at the Round Table just off Leicester Square. I hope you weren't too put off by the sustained barrage of idiocy, folks.
That evening was
colonel_maxim's bash at the College Arms, where there was a fine turnout of people I see too rarely. Next time I hope to get to speak to more of them for a little longer than I managed this time. Nice to see
_dawntreader_ again, and to have met Darrell.
(Glad you liked the picture, and sorry it took so long to get it to you).
Right. I'm fading too fast to write more.
Maybe later, kids.
