caddyman: (Addams)
I was going to settle down early for a good night's kip, but I have had to log back on and record this while I remember it.

The reason is the semi-sleeping brain of [livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle, which once again has provide chucklesome entertainment. Now, as she dozes peacefully, dreaming of who knows what, I can only hope that the quest she started upon whilst falling asleep continues.

As I got into bed, I was informed that she couldn't see why it was OK to "cook peppers like that, but not mushrooms. It isn't unethical", she continued, "because mushrooms aren't alive."

I pondered the import of this intelligence for a few seconds before being told in all earnestness and with a firm nod of the head, that "I don't understand people who insist on treating mushrooms like human beings".

Indeed, I thought. Who am I to argue?

My reverie was broken by the request that I "stop pushing bottle corks into my ear."

So here I am, writing on LJ instead of sleeping. I shall now return to bed and try to remedy this...

PC RIP

My PC has died - actually I think it may be the heat sink - the fan IS working, but the machine only works for about 10 minutes and then dies. The screen goes completely blank as if turned off (ie no blue screen of death or egg timer of eternity), though the power is clearly still coming through. Nothing works and even holding the power button in for 10 seconds doesn't work. I have to pull the cable out.

Any ideas? I don't think, or rather hope that it's not a virus - Norton is there to stop that.

I am pondering buying a new machine anyway, but could do without the expense until January. Any ideas on that, too, would be welcome. I was thinking Dell. Can't afford a Mac...

In the meantime, thank God I have this lappie...
