I’ve been meaning to make a quick note here for the past couple of days and kept forgetting. Primarily for those of you who like the blues guitar stylings of Stevie Ray Vaughan, if you haven’t encountered the band before, seek out the Chris Duarte Group, particularly the new (or at least current) album, “Blue Velocity”.

Planet Rock played a couple of the band’s pieces on (I think) Sunday and it was pretty damned good.

I would put him down as potentially the spiritual successor to the late, great, Stevie Ray. I expect that this will be of interest to [livejournal.com profile] telemeister.

According to the BBC, HMV have bought Fopp and intend to run the stores independently from their own megastores, preserving the way they operated before the company went into liquidation.

[livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle and I wandered past the Covent Garden Branch (above) on Saturday afternoon. It was quite eerie: all the stock was still there in the shop, though one stack of CDs had fallen and spilt everywhere, but covered in dust like a music media Marie Célèste.
