As I start typing, I have about 50 minutes before we are supposed to vacate the premises and I go on leave for a week! Hurrah! Except that as we are all packed up and have no access to any of our stuff except that which is on the network, or Deputy Director has said that we should regard the midday deadline as advisory, not absolute. Apparently when we did the move in the opposite direction, she stayed in the office until after 6pm. Well, if I earned in excess of £55k and spent much of the day in meetings with no need to access files and was unconcerned about people trying to unplug my PC while I’m working on it, I’m sure I could motivate myself to stay, too.
I have written before about the Troll from Crawley who thinks that our systems are, to use his phrase, “unfit for the purpose”. I was speaking to a colleague this morning who has been contacted by another Troll with a similar bugbear. This new bloke favours the phrase “It is government gone mad, and I’m German, so I know what happens when governments go mad!”.
I salute him. It is not everyone who can equate the Decent Homes Programme with Nazi death camps.
