Boring update

I have just had the world’s bitterest cup of coffee. Normally the café in the street just around the back of the office is pretty good, but I think they must have used acorn shavings and old bits of pine cone to bulk out the aged coffee grinds. Maybe they were upset that we only ordered coffee and nothing to eat, I don’t know, but ooer, I needed a mint afterwards. It tasted OK on the way down but didn’t half leave an aftertaste. Hard to complain, too, when you have chugged back half of it before noticing.

Considering that it’s only 8 February, it is almost a spring day out there. Several trees have blossom on them and it is quite sunny. We appear to have dispensed with winter entirely in the London area at least. I have given up all hope of snow this season.

As you can probably guess, I haven’t got much to report today. I have been busy without actually achieving much. Still, nearly the weekend.

I am feeling suddenly very frazzled. Well, not suddenly – it has crept up on me over the afternoon.

The local accounts team have just done a 180 degree about turn on the advice they gave us six months ago. They have also asked for explanations from us for things other people have done. You should all marvel at my restraint in not hitting the feller. I think he might have got the message when I started speaking slowly and distinctly in sentences of no more than five or six words.

The lunatics have taken over the asylum. From the old lunatics.

On the plus side, my new specs have arrived already. I anticipate that they will be almost plain glass. That means that I shall be able to wear them at work as the mild mannered civil servant, but when I take them off, no one will recognise the er… mild mannered civil servant underneath.

How does that work, again.
