Form filling

Real life circumstances never fit in with the cosy world of form-filling and we have a number of forms to fill in with regard to our move. Most of my side is easy enough, other than the fact that for some reason I have to have something with a photo and my name on it to prove that the face on my head belongs to me.

This is a bit awkward when all I have is an expired passport.

My driving licence is current, but as I haven’t driven anything in about 18 years, I haven’t felt the need to update the address on it for close on 20, which means that it has no photograph and an address that has been out of date since October 1989. I was told that my work pass would be sufficient right up until the moment I showed it to them and they decided that an out of date passport (it’s just not been renewed since January 2006 as I’ve not needed it) will do.

We have decided that the best thing to do is to wander in to the management agents’ offices tonight and fill out the twiddly bits of the forms under the beady gaze of the chap who’s dealing with our paper work. What a palaver.

Biscuits...

For lunch I had some rather nice club sandwiches from M&S and a bag of their own proprietary version of hula hoops. I followed that with a couple of bananas.

I am not hungry, but I find myself fighting off the urge to nip across the way to buy some expensive and unnecessary biscuits. Preferably chocolate biscuits. Belgian chocolate biscuits. With orange crème in them. I have over an hour and a half before I go home; this will be a struggle. I have apples and bananas in the office and they are looking at me accusingly with their vegetably x-ray eyes from my desk drawer, I know they are.

But the siren call of the Belgian chocolate biscuits with orange crème filling is strong…
