caddyman: (opus dozing)
I am drying off after my shower, so I thought this a good time to catch up.

This weekend doesn't seem to have flown by like last weekend did. In fact, bits of it have taken longer to go by than they should. I have now had two consecutive nights of sleeplessness and although as is customary on these occasions, I have made up some of the deficit during the day, a good night's sleep is on the cards. Indeed, I have just taken a couple of tablets of something called Natrasleep, which I am hoping will help me along. Last night, the regular slamming (or so it seemed) of the blinds against the window and the hum of the fan damn near drove me dotty. I feel somewhat better now, but there is an underlying ache to my shoulders, neck, back and chest that just won't quite go away for any length of time. It does for an hour or so when I have managed to grab a few minutes' sleep, but it comes back with the tiredness.

We went for a walk in the park this afternoon - only about a mile and half, but enough to get some fresh air and the illusion of exercise. That and a reduced food intake, I am hoping, will help.

Saturday morning, [livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle and I blitzed the house work: I vacuumed the place from stem to stern, while she did the bathroom. We have finally worked out the whys and wherefores of the dishwasher, so that washing the dishes is barely classifiable as a chore these days, and by having shelves of books everywhere, we have minimised the practical amount of dusting we need to do, though at some point the venetian blinds will need tackling.

After some piddling about with it, I have some sense of where my next bit of writing will take me, so I am hoping to get a few more paragraphs down over the next few days. I'll warn you when they're ready and hide them behind a cut so you need not burden yourself with them if you don't wish to.

Right. I am going to finish my cup of tea and wander around a few web pages while I do so, then go to bed. Hopefully to sleep, not simmer.

Well they didn't work.

Maybe I should try that Badger stuff Scotty recommended?

Still awake!

Ovaltine and toast may not be an acceptable substitute for a few hours sleep, but they pass the time when smoothed down with a little jazz on Radio 2!

Monday in the office is going to be extra special.

I do not recommend that you should waste your money on Natrasleep. It most definitely does not do what it says on the box.

The new enamels will help in the quest to keep up the pretense for another year!

It's not eleven in the morning yet and already the predictions for the day are fulfilling themselves.

Lack of sleep has turned my eyeballs to dry, dusty pebbles that grate and scrape whenever I blink or in anyway move them. I ache from the tips iof my fingers to the nape of my neck and if I close my eyes for a second too long I can feel myself nodding off. The only time I cannot sleep, it seems, is at night in bed. I seem to be hot, too, though thed weather is quite clearly much cooler than of late and I am anyway in an air -conditioned office. I think my humours are in imbalance, though which of the blood, yellow bile, black bile or phlegm needs draining off is anyone's guess. Doctors don't hold much store by this eminently sensible system any more. Quacks.

Of course, being one averse to being prodded and punctured at the best of times, I should be more grateful that medical science has moved on. I don't want anything drained, ta very much. Maybe not quacks, then; a bit more respect. Mountebanks and charlatans, perhaps.

Again, I am too stern with them, too disrespectful. Especially as a day or two more of this and I shall be in need of potions, ungents or linaments from said august profession.
