Early morning Sunday
Sunday, July 20th, 2008 03:53 amThe eastern horizon is beginning to lighten; it will be fully light in about a half hour from now, so I guess that strictly speaking, I am suffering from insomnia again. I went to bed at three not feeling particularly tired and got up forty minutes later bored. I just don't feel sleepy, so I may as well entertain myself online as lie there listening with a certain level of envy to the redoubtable Furtle who can rustle up forty winks at the tip of a hat.
Don't get the impression, by the way, that I am pissed off or otherwise in a bad mood. If I felt tired and sleepy but remained resolutely awake, then I may be in a bad mood, but as I say, I feel wide awake. Quite how awake I shall be say, six hours from now, is another question.
While Elle was out this, er, yesterday morning, doing her 5k run for cancer, I decided to tackle BT about the continued appearance on my bill of £1.98 rental for a handset they have never provided. I await confirmation on the next bill, but I should now have that charge removed and a £5 credit added to my account. The fact that it took an hour and a half and four attempts at dialing the same number, being passed to and fro, to get that result is another matter. I observe that if I had been trying to give them money, I should have concluded my business in about ten minutes and only spoken to one person having dialed once. But such is life.
Today (Sunday), I am thinking about sloping down to Maplin's in Camden. Since we have moved into The Carpathia, I have been fretting about the fact that both hi-fi speakers are next to one another on the top of a bookshelf in the bedroom. They work fine, but it makes something of a mockery of the concept of stereo. Furtle is not bothered by this but I am. I have two speakers: I want stereo separation. So. A trip to Maplin's and hopefully I shall be able to get a few yards of that red and red/black cabling plus a splicing clip to join them and I shall be able to bring the right speaker around the chimney breast and onto the top of the CD rack on the other side. Then I shall be able to lie on the bed and hear ze moosique as she is recorded rather than the somewhat one-eyed sound I have right now. I may take the opportunity to nip into Mega City while I'm there and fail to pick up any comics.
Right. That'll do for now; I shall have a quick surf of teh intarweb and then try for a little kip.
Ciao, Amigos.
