caddyman: (opus explorer)
Today your intrepid explorers, Ponsonby and Carruthers, scaled the south face of Parliament Hill and beheld the views there from of central London.

We picniced and read a little and then dozed in the sun; Ponsonby (your servant) took a few photographs to record this momentous occasion. Some of these appear below the cut (or as I type, they may appear as they are taking forever to upload to my scrapbook. Ordinarily they would have gone onto my photobucket account, but I seem to have forgotten my password and despite assurances to the contrary, it hasn't emailed me an alternative password. It is to weep).

Having lolled in the sunshine for a couple of hours, our intrepid duo struck out for Kenwood House both to see and enjoy this stately home, but also in search of loos.

Afterward, we exited both Kenwood and Hampstead Heath from the opposite side to where we had entered. What we had taken to be the tube station on the map turned out to be bus stops on either side of the road, so we waited upon the convenience of the 210 to take us to Archway where we caught the tube home. Somehow we ended up iun the Griffin for a pint before returning safe and sound to the Carpathia.

I like to think that it was the fresh air and sunshine rather than the total walked distance of probably under three miles (though there were hills) that caused us to flake out and snooze for a couple of hours when we got home. I'm sure that's the explanation, yes.

Pretty piccy behind the cut )

All attempts to upload pictures to either my scrapbook of photobucket accoun have failed. Thatk the Lord for Flickr. You should give thanks, too. Now you only have to endure a single picture - unless you go to my account for a looksee.

I have made the grave error of buying my first computer game in years.

I have forgotten how to stop and go to bed. I am now forcing myself to have a shower and turn in...

Chores

We have completed the weekend chores: hoovering, scrubbing: that sort of thing.

I have indulged in my least favourite activity short of sticking red hot pins into my eyes; I have been trying to cancel account6s that I thought had been cancelled and trying to come off mailing lists etc.. I have agreed with Amex that the 4p they owe me and which prevents them from closing my account, can go to Great Ormond St hospital. Such generosity. I agreed the same thing 6 months ago, maybe it will stick this time. Having cancelled my Barclaycard around the same time, I have emailed them asking that I be taken off their mailing list, especially since I no longer live at the address they are using and it is only a matter of months before the mail forwarding ceases.

The technological age makes it no easier to get off these bloody corporate lists, though getting on them is a cinch. Really, I just wish the corporate world would go away and leave me alone. I have no interest in it beyond such interaction I must have.

Oh well, it is done for now. Doubtless I shall have to do it all again at some point. For the remainder of the weekend though, the world is our lobster.
