Weekend

A proper update will follow later today, late evening, I should imagine. I shall be off shortly to get the train down to King's Cross and then back out to Wembley Stadium for the NFL game between the San Diego Chargers and the New Orleans Saints. I shall be meeting [livejournal.com profile] wallabok and Mr Dreyer sans LJ, our resident Welsh Zimbabwean for the game. They are planning to go to the tailgate party aforehand, but as with the NFL game last year, the weather has decided to drop large quantities of rain on us so I shall leave them to it and meet them outside the stadium around 3.15 or 3.30. I do not feel up to standing around in humid Autumnal rain drinking over-priced beer. I shall wait until we get into Wembley proper and sit in the dry, drinking over-priced beer.

In the meantime, having uploaded all the pictures from my camera so that I have maximum memory for the day's events, here is an early Autumnal shot of the trees in the park across the road from Totteridge and Whetstone tube station.

And one from the station platform itself. I don't know why I keep taking pictures of the platform at Totteridge & Whetstone so don't ask me.

By the time the opportunity to take pictures of local greenery on a clear, sunny day comes along I expect all the leaves will have fallen, so the chances of getting a truly spectacular Autumn photo are quite remote. As mentioned earlier, the weather today is gloomy and wet and next weekend we are off to [livejournal.com profile] karen_lilley and [livejournal.com profile] fen_wolfchile's wedding in Derby, so little chance then, too. Maybe on the Sunday afternoon if the weather's nice. Who knows?

I'm no fan of X-Factor but really, why do some people out there just have opinions that show that they are effectively wearing their own arses as hats?

[livejournal.com profile] keith_london found this a few days ago and I've only just got around to reading it.

X-Factor may be drivel TV, but only a backward idiot with a mediaeval mindset could accuse it of being "anti-Muslim" or the act of watching it a "form of hatred". I think the weight of his beard must be causing undue pressure on his brain.

He added: "Some people may find excuses for those people – ignorance and so on.
"If after three days, if they continue, you are barred from these people and their deeds. Even watching the show – those people are committing a form, a type, of muadaat (hatred). And that action is a form of kufr (non-belief)."

Tra-la. This is what happens when you allow you life to be ruled by superstition: your brain rots.
