Morning Flower (6)
Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008 08:28 amThe plumber arrived at 7.50 this morning and now we have a functioning shower once more.
It appears that it was a similar problem to one that plagued us in the Athenaeum, except that there had a separate shower, so it didn't matter quite so much that the landlord there was crap in that instance at least. The water flow in the hot tap wasn't as high as it could have been, it seems, a mere single turn of the tap instead of two, so the washer and tappity flange-sproggle1 did what all things do when bathed in slow-moving hot water and expanded (fnur) until the water flow was cut off.
Anyway, it's sorted now. If it recurs after Christmas we may have to angle for a new tap set, but quite apart from the hassle, I hope not: the taps are original fittings from the 1930s and they are rather stylish in that chunky, pre-war way.
I may have three or four showers tonight. Because I can.
1Technical term. Trust me.
