Faster than the eye
Thursday, March 26th, 2009 11:00 amThis morning Card Sharp Guy1 was on the Tube as I rode in to work. Amongst all the odd coves I spot when I am commuting, he is at least a skilfully odd cove. I see him occasionally and he sits quietly manipulating a deck of playing cards with a calm patience2 and improving his card trick skills.
Apart from endlessly practicing his card tricks and ignoring everyone around him while he does it, the main point of interest is his clothing. CSG2 may well be the world’s first combat illusionist. He wears mixed military fatigues and camouflage and sometimes a forage/fatigue cap. Now I think on it, there is something of the revolutionary about him, so may be urban guerrilla conjuror is more appropriate.
He gets off the Tube at Camden Town. Just before the reality weavers, with their wheelie bags gain the ascendancy. This must be significant.
1CSG2 I guess, to differentiate him from the original CSG, or Creepy Swedish Guy.
2Which is appropriate for someone doing things with playing cards solo.
