Ah, the first day of the holidays.
I always like Maunday Thursday: we get a whole day off for the use of just a half day's leave, or flexitime. This is a good exchange rate. Then there is the joyous feeling that comes with being home (legitimately) while the rest of the world is at work. Bank Holidays sound and smell different. There will be almost as much activity out on the High Road tomorrow and probably Saturday and Monday, too (Sunday is always a little quieter), but it is not quite the same bustle that we get on normal business days.
I had a very welcome lie in, not deigning to grace the world with my presence until about 10.30. That was followed by a late breakfast and a couple of Frasiers on the DVD player. I have tidied away papers and emptied my ancient and failing rucksack ahead of nipping into Finchley sometime over the weekend to buy a replacement. My cluttered desk is relatively tidy and the Council Tax for April is paid. Unlike the earlier part of the week, the skies are a dark grey and there is a hint of moisture in the breeze. I expect the rain that will confirm we are moving into a British Bank Holiday weekend to arrive very soon.
Ah, what to do? What to do?
