Calorie attack
Friday, July 17th, 2009 11:51 amI have decided that I shall indeed try a peanut butter shake tonight. Opinion seems to be divided almost as much as if I had asked about a marmite shake (Uuurrr…), but I have decided to give it ago.
Somehow I have to negotiate my way through a couple of after work pints, followed by a trip to Ed’s Easy Diner with chums and still remain clear-headed and clear-tummed enough to be able to sketch a World of Warcraft thingie for Furtle to include on a get-well card she is going to send to one of her on-line gaming friends who has had a heart attack. I can’t help but feel that if we are not careful in Ed’s, we may be obliged to deliver the card in person and hand it over from an adjoining bed. As it is, we have decided that today is our monthly ‘day off the diet’.
Sadly I seem to have had most of a week off; we decided that my points allowance should be cut at the beginning of the week and I seem to have strayed over the new allowance every day so far. I shall be happy to have played par for the week. Once I am on my holidays it will be easier. The tendency to be drawn to snacks on my own time as opposed to staving off office boredom and annoyance is much reduced.
Judging by the collapse (again) of the England batting order in the second test, I doubt I shall be tempted to wander off and watch the cricket any time soon. Anyway, if the rain keeps up, The Ashes will be better re-named The Paste and that sounds unappealing enough for me to think Australia should be allowed to keep them.
