Back in the Smoke

Well, I'm back.

Although my ticket technically wasn't valid, the nice ticket inspector on the new Chiltern-Line service that runs directly between Wrexham (via Shrewsbury) and London Marylebone said he'd accept the ticket because they could claim it back from Virgin, so although I'm not sure the trip was any faster, it surely was much less hassle. I think they are operating old Virgin Trains stock, too. The carriages are a bit elderly but in reasonable repair and have the old fashioned slam doors that I prefer to the modern airlocks. They have more overhead baggage space than the Pandemoniums Pandolinos (sp?) and the only downside is that they do not have powerpoints for laptops like the more modern replacements.

But I didn't have my laptop with me, so that's all right.

It felt odd leaving the house this morning, as it is more than probable that it is the last time that I shall ever be in it, but I've never lived there, just visited. It didn't feel as odd as the last time I left the house I grew up in.

Anyway, now I'm back and have my own computer to play with, beware of the return of the exceedingly pointless post.
