Well, My Dears, I seem to be falling behind with my updates and I'm sorry for that. I expect it will stay like this for a little while longer, this post-election coaltion government thing is playing havoc with work and quiet periods are at a premium. Add to that my recent bouts of computer trouble and between times playings of Warcrack and well, you get the idea.

Today I knocked off early-ish, so I could nip up Tottenham Court Road to buy the final fixings of my computer. And I did. My graphics card is now a very respectable GeForce 9600GT and my wallet a little lighter. It's all installed and working and everything. I played a little Warcrack on it and it's fab. When I have a minuite or two, I shall try the resolution for the game at a slightly higher level to see if it can cope with it. I am informed that it should, and admirably.

I have also invested in a Power Monkey:

This is the Explorer version, a little more sturdy than the one I bought

This little device will hold a spare charge for just about any portable gadget you can think of and comes with plug adaptors for most of the developed world. Very useful indeed, but also, I guess, just another item to forget to charge. Still...

The mutton heads who brought us the Lisa Simpson blow-job logo for the London Olympics in 2012, have now revealed the official mascots for the games...

Mandeville and Wenlock. As an ex-pat Salopian, I approve of the name Wenlock.

I haven't yet decided whether or not I like the mascots, though I can see the appeal for kids. Auntie has the story here.

They certainly aren't as bad as the logo: there's still time for them to rethink that, surely. But they won't.
