A clip of genius that just shows how far amateur special effects have come!

So we had a good night last night with the quiz, though yet again we were placed only third and therefore out of the running for the rapidly building rollover jackpot (now over £600). Maybe we’ll win it next week, who knows.

We should have done slightly better if I hadn’t talked the visiting [livejournal.com profile] keresaspa out of writing ‘marsupial’ and suggested ‘jellyfish’ instead. The fact that neither of us, despite a professed interest in history, remembered the existence of the so-called Helvetic Republic meant that we misplaced Switzerland’s last war by a cool 100 years. And who knew that Peter Sellars was the first man to appear on the cover of Playboy? Well, somebody knew, obviously, but it warn’t us. My gruntle is still vaguely dissed at the fact that we were not allowed A-League as the answer to the name of Australia’s senior football league. We needed to include the sponsor’s1 name, too. I’ll bet if it had been a question about English football, The Premier League or maybe even The Premiership would have done.

Harrumph.

Nonetheless, it was a good evening and we did not disgrace ourselves. I might have been better advised not to have the last pint of Strongbow as this morning I was very tired and if not emotional, certainly a little churny. Ahem.

Anyway, today is the last day before we embark on a four-day weekend, so hurrah! We have a full season of 24 to watch, Eurovision tomorrow and Doctor Who on (I think) Sunday. Perhaps a little drawing and Warcrack between and betwixt…

1Apparently it’s the Hyundry Hyundai A-League.

Coming in November 2010, a metal sonic screwdriver that actually drives screws. Whatever next?

The blurb:
This perfectly detailed metallic screwdriver is based on the eleventh Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver! The only difference is this screwdriver is best used to change a plug and not to save the Universe!

When in use (pressing the bits) the screwdriver lights up and sound just like the Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver.

Presented in stylish acetate gift box three tips are included for large, medium and small screws. Each tip is reverseable with Phillips and Flat-head ends. While not in use there is a chamber in the screwdrivers base for tip storage.

Requires 2x AA batteries not included.
