Here again

I think that I have now officially lost my shades. This is very annoying; I bought them in 1999 in Richmond VA and they have given me sterling service ever since. Unlike most sunglasses, these have (or had, if I never find them) a cheering rosy tint to them (not obvious from the outside) that took the glare away but left the world pleasing bright. I’m sure they are somewhere in the house, but like Furtle’s pair and the extra set of bath towels, who knows precisely where they may have washed up..?

I have to say that although it seems to have fled by, this weekend just passed was one of the ‘extra value’ weekends that comes by from time to time.

Having had a tiring and rather boring week – there is a strong correlation between the two, I suspect – I wandered up to Forbidden Planet with [livejournal.com profile] fencingsculptor on Friday for the first time since before the move and then we decamped to the Angel pub for a few drinks, where we were met by [livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle. Three pints later we wandered off, but upon arrival in Ilford we found our way to the Prince of Wales, where I may have consumed a further three pints followed by rather too much pizza at home afterwards.

Saturday saw us having a much needed lie in. There’s nothing quite like too much heat to boost lethargy and the weekend was a corker in that respect. Early afternoon, Clan [livejournal.com profile] wallabok happened by for a couple of hours to inspect the new abode and between times we pootled in the garden, hung pictures, tidied and shoved things in the attic (this latter not being my favourite way of passing the time).

And so the weekend drained away. We spent yesterday evening around at the neighbours nattering and drinking wine. Most pleasant. Apparently we missed what turned out to be a monumentally boring World Cup Final. I likes me footie, but I think we probably got the better of the deal.
