Last night's telly
Friday, August 20th, 2010 10:37 amYes, yes, I know. But it’s true: we watch Celebrity Masterchef on telly. Not the whole series, because we didn’t realise it was on, but a number of the more recent episodes, including the final that concludes tonight.
I find myself agreeing with the son of an old colleague, Dan Rebellato, (long time readers may remember me mentioning his dad, Mario, who at the age of 65 ran the Marathon des Sables in the Sahara. I believe he’s doing it again, too!) who posted on Twitter, “I resent Celebrity Masterchef for making me warm to Christine Hamilton.” It’s hard to argue with him in some ways, but the Hamiltons dropped off the importance radar some years ago, and her hubby did his time, so let bygones be bygones, I say.
The other masterful quote from the show last night was “Dick is still butchering his kid”, which is wrong on many levels both in and out of context. The final finale is on tonight.
After that was over, we fired up Mitchell and Webb on BBC iPlayer, primarily because I had seen
mrtonylee and
budgie_uk say good things about the Sherlock Holmes sketch at the end of the show. Sorry guys, I didn’t get it: it was unnecessary and left us feeling sad and deflated. There is nothing funny or even particularly poignant about a skit featuring a senile and incontinent Sherlock Holmes being humoured by his friends.
Ah well, to each his own, I guess.
I suppose I should do some work, now.
Nearly the weekend.
