Sudden Realisation!
Monday, September 6th, 2010 11:28 amWhat with everything else that’s been going on recently, I managed to forget that I am supposed to be going to Bristol on Saturday for the annual draft and social for an online Gridiron game I play. This year I have given the event no thought whatsoever. I have given the game no thought since the last season closed and I haven’t looked at the draft or my team. I suppose I should.
There are two drafts each year, since we squeeze in two seasons online in 12 months. One is ‘live’ insofar as anything involving statistics can be live, and the other is handled on line over a period of days. I much prefer the latter approach; it is less disruptive to my early September weekend and since I am not one of the statistics geeks, I frankly don’t have much to say to most of the other people there. I don’t think I shall go next year if I can find someone to proxy for me. It’s a long way to go to spend a day not particularly enjoying myself.
My first day back in the office after a week off is every bit the delight I thought it would be. Still, I shall wander off early tonight on account of the Tube/Rail strike that starts at 5.00pm.
