No cat no more

Today marks the beginning of a three-day week before the Easter break, which due to the lateness of Easter this year and the additional bank holiday for the Royal Wedding, means that I get 12 consecutive days (including weekends, natch) away from here for the price of three and a half days annual leave. That, mes amis is what is known in the trade as a bargain.

On Saturday we waved farewell to the cat, which is now back with his owner. I don’t particularly want a pet, but even I had a lump in me old softie throat when he went. I got attached to the little brute over the three months we had him. That said, it was very nice to have the windows and kitchen door open for much of the weekend and we managed to spruce the place up very quickly. Some of the ornaments are still packed away, but since we will be painting the living room while we are off, it seemed a little pointless to unship them just to pack them up again in a couple of days.

Other than that, over the weekend there was a more pottering in the garden, including fixing the irrigation piping – though I have yet to install the new timer. I added more soil to my potato sacks – they appear to have an infinite capacity for new compost, though I stopped short of burying the entirety of the potato plants.

More stuff found its way into the loft. I hate going into the loft and although I know I’m not, it feels sometimes as though I am always going up there! Still, with any luck I shan’t need to go up there again until I retrieve the Christmas decorations in December.

So, I have to know: did any of my American/Canadian chums watch the first episode of HBO's A Game of Thrones and was it any good?

It's on over here tonight and we are mightily hopeful.
