The whole enchilada
Monday, June 13th, 2011 03:29 pmChanging the subject away from dour employment prospects, I thought I’d update you all on my weekend. I know that you’ve been sitting there with baited breath.
I worked from home on Friday. In the end, shirked from home might have covered it better. I got very little done; some details had changed meaning the information I had to hand was out of date and when I emailed work to get the latest versions, my boss had taken an impromptu half day off, so there I was, stranded.
I drafted something else and then made up time by doing a bit of Warcrack instead. Of course this means that I shall have to put in a couple of extra hours at this end now, to make up, but hey ho.
Saturday afternoon saw me wandering off with the Ilford CrewTM to Walthamstow for
westernind’s and
forbinproject’s open house. It was a good afternoon and early evening – the dull weather brightened long enough for everyone to have a splendid time, I think. Sadly I left Furtle at home and left a little earlier than I might otherwise have done to get home to cheer her up. This week she is doing important and high profile things with work and needed to swot up on the arcana of policy so she can punch above her weight for the duration of that process.
Happily she managed to make a significant dent in what she wanted to do and we were able to relax on Sunday. Of course, the weather was atrocious, so no cherries got picked. I may have to do some of that over the week nights coming if we are not to lose the whole crop to the birds!
Tonight I have to cook a chilli. A big chilli for freezing in portions. I have a reserve can of baked beans in the event I can’t get the flavour right in any other way. Whether or not I mention this again will depend largely upon how it goes and whether I can squeeze a story out of the cooking process…
