Today has been surprisingly useful, what with one thing and another. That said, I am ready for the week to finish and for my weekend to begin.

I have very little planned for this weekend; mainly lounging around and playing a bit of Warcraft, I hope, but I am aware that we will have to spend some time in the garden with sharp implements. A fortnight of intermittent rain and sunshine has turned it into something of a jungle and my nicely flowering roses are hidden by the sweetpea/triffid cross that it bursting forth next to, around, under and over it. Moreover, I think the Japanese soldier further down is having it far too easy and needs to hone his concealment skills. At the moment an orange elephant would disappear in the sea of green back there.

Not to mention the drums, oh those blasted drums…

Having missed it along with most other movies I fancied seeing so far this year, I have acquired a copy of the Coen Brothers’ rework of True Grit. I understand it is very good and I am pinning my faith on the Coen Brothers’ undoubted capability to deliver a ripping good yarn. My last purchase, courtesy of the increasingly over rated Ridley Scott was saved largely by the fact it was heavily discounted and sitting in the bargain bin.
