Telly Schedule clash
Monday, September 19th, 2011 10:17 amI have to check tonight to see if Downton Abbey is on the cable version of iPlayer (or ITV Player, I think it’s called). Having elected to watch that and then pick up Spooks on iPlayer, it occurred to me that we may have made a poor choice. Not because there was anything wrong with either programme (though the first episode of Downton Abbey season 2 was a little more disjointed than I should have liked, and the ‘surprise’ in Spooks was immediately apparent and would have been a surprise if they hadn’t done it); no, the problem was the advertising.
We watch so little TV these days, preferring DVD, iPlayer and BBC in that order, that I seem to have lost all tolerance for advert breaks. I understand as ever, that ITV need to adverts to survive, but I don’t.
So next week, with any luck, we shall reverse the order of our perusal of the scheduling clash and watch Spooks ‘live’ as it were, and pick up Downton Abbey from iPlayer.
Speaking of DVDs, I am getting closer to talking myself into shelling out the conkers for a copy of the Colditz box set…
