A twist in the tale
Friday, September 23rd, 2011 10:54 amIt is a truth universally acknowledged, that a classic tale in possession of a solid fan base, must be in want of a sequel.
Having already received zombie treatment, Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is now set to get a sequel: Death Comes to Pemberley.
It is 1803. Mr and Mrs Fitzwilliam Darcy are about to retire for the night when an unexpected guest turns up: Mrs Darcy’s youngest sister, one Lydia Wickham (née Bennett) tumbles out of her carriage, screaming that her husband has been murdered. And so the Darcys become involved in a whodunnit.
In this case, it is PD James whodunnit.
Yes, that PD James.
So. Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle to reprise their roles for TV in due course?
Death Comes to Pemberley by PD James: Published by Faber and Faber 3 November.
