Techie nerves
Tuesday, March 13th, 2012 03:48 pmWhen IOS 5.01 for the iPhone came out I was beguiled by the ease of update over the wifi, so when, a few minutes ago I got the notification on my phone that IOS 5.1 was available, I just let it get on with the download and installation.
Having a few moments to myself, I thought I’d look on the intarwebs and see what the difference was. After all, as a software upgrade it is supposed to fix bugs and stuff, yeah?
Ooh, it’s like looking up the possible causes of housemaid’s knee on the net and self diagnosing with bubonic plague. It seems that there are complaints all over the place regarding this new IOS, the worst of which appears to be increased battery drain. I really, really, hope that’s not the case. The way my iPhone chobbles up battery life is quite awesome as it is, and the one thing that annoys me about it (though I understand that all smart phones do the same to one degree or another). The irony, of course, is that among the bugs that the update is supposed to fix, are those that impact upon battery life.
Ah well, we shall see. It downloaded and installed easily enough. Let’s hope that the phone continues to behave itself…
