Team building

This month has seen the final winding up of my old division and the incorporation of those of us who remain into another division and indeed, directorate.

For the next couple of months it probably won't have much of an impact as we carry on winding down the old subsidy system and such, but today we have a team-building exercise with the new division.

Part of this joyous occasion includes what has been labelled on the agenda as 'speed dating' which is to say that we have to introduce ourselves to the division and come armed with an interesting fact about ourselves.

I didn't give much thought to it, I must confess. Once I started though, I found it remarkably difficult. I even touted for ideas on FarceBørk.

In the end I plumped for the fact I have four O-Levels at the same grade in French. It's interesting for a given value of interesting.

When I was 11 the school inexplicably decided I was good at language and fast-streamed me in French. I took the O-Level a year early and squeaked a pass. To make it look better, I took it again in the fifth form and squeaked another pass at the same grade.

Having bought the hype and having put the result down to jitters, I signed up for A-Level and resat the O-Level to get a better grade ahead of the more advanced course. I squeaked a pass again.

When I was 18 I sat the A-Level as scheduled and fluffed it. But not so badly that they decided to award me another O-Level pass at the same grade.

Anyway, I submitted this as my interesting fact and was told by return of email that I could make something up if I wanted.

How rude.

I may substitute the tale of the search for an interesting fact as the interesting fact...
