At Stratford this morning, there was the odd flake blowing around, but no snow. I am a bit disappointed in this Beast from the East truth be told. It’s dropped the temperatures, sure enough, but all the moist air is out west, so it’s the Welsh who are getting heaps of the white stuff and a day off.

Now I am at work, it is snowing but as ever it is hard to tell in central London – except for the fact that if it does actually stick on the streets around here, it will be immense fun further out from the centre. However it turns out, though, it looks as though what bad weather we get around here will be mainly tonight and over the weekend, with a thaw by Monday.

I WAS HOPING FOR BETTER (or worse, depending upon your point of view).

Of course, the one thing that I rediscovered is that when it is really cold outside, there are few things more soporific in a morning than a cosy warm tube train and not for the first time in my life I should have been quite happy to stay on the line to the far terminus and then go home again, nodding in semi comatose fashion the entire journey there and back.

Still, it was not to be and here I am. I have some almost equally soporific spreadsheets to work through today, but I reckon I’ll be off home reasonably early. Just in case. Plus: nearly the weekend.
