Snowday afternoon
Monday, January 21st, 2013 11:04 amDespite, or indeed probably because of the weather, we had a very good weekend, Sunday in particular.
Actually, Saturday was simply okay, but Sunday was fun. It snowed quite a lot and in the afternoon we decided to wander out for a traipse in the park, and crunch through the snow. I don’t know why, but we don’t visit the park very often despite it only being seven or eight minutes’ walk away down the road. Anyway, we stirred ourselves and made the effort.
It was glorious and I am happy to report that recreational snow (!) brings out the best in people. Families who would normally ignore each other were grinning like loons and hurling great blobs of the white stuff around and kids were belting around on sledges and toboggans. At the same time it wasn’t too crowded and the steadily falling snow dampened the sounds so everything just felt calm and peaceful.
We encountered a number of snow-entities (hard to tell what some of them were) and then disappeared to the pub for a restorative pint or three.
I’ll stick a few pictures up at lunchtime (hopefully), once I have transferred them from my iPhone. The “Snow Queen” is particularly impressive in terms of scale if not technique.
