caddymanA quick read of the BBC News and Sports websites suggests to me that if Russia fail to pull their forces out of Georgia as they have promised, but so far failed to do, there is a case for bumping them from 6th to 4th in the Olympic medals table. Rankings are decided by the numbers of gold a country's team has won rather than the country's overall haul. At the time of typing, the places are:

3 Great Britain 16
4 Australia 11
5 Germany 11
6 Russia 10
26 Georgia 2
