Veteran broadcaster and DJ John Peel dies from heart attack.

The music world will not be the same again. Over the yuears, I have picked up a lot of musical tips from his show, often with excellent but obscure bands.

That's taken the edge off my day...

...and mine.

I didn't enjoy Home Truths, feeling it was R4 pandering to tabloid tendencies, but his music broadcasting over the years is something to remember.

John Peel was a father figure to me really. Always been a fan of him.

The airwaves won't be the same.

I loved his style of presenting and the way he frequently put the wrong record on.

Such a shame

Will be missed in a big way. Never sold out what he loved in music. If I remember right his favorite song was 'Teenage Kicks', be sure to shout it loud the next time its on.

I always thought he would go on forever. That is certainly sad news. Very sobering indeed.

My first reaction was "Fucking Hell!!!", I'll stick to that!

He seemed a great human, and probably made modern music as much as some of the bands.
What can you say.
He was John Peel.

He was cutting edge when my dad listened to him in the 60's and he still was right up to the end. How many people can you say that of? I'll stop to prevent myself repeating what I said on Mr Shhhhhh's thread.
I feel genuinely sad, he's unreplaceable.

No reason to wake up on a Saturday morning ever again...

However, it's not a fair trade.
