Well let's all enjoy the irony, shall we?
The Tube network is largely shut down because of the RMT Union drivers' strike. Services are either suspended, partly suspended or severely disrupted depending upon which line you are looking at. Except for the Northern Line, known in London and the South-East as the 'Misery Line' because it is always suffering disruptions because of signal failures etc.
Except today. Today, the Northern Line is providing a good service.
Guess who has arranged to work from home because of the strike? And who arranged delivery of packages today because he was at home? Yep, you guessed.
Luckily, I have emailed my boss and she is cool with me staying here for today while I work through the form design and testing. We are way behind with them and the fewer interruptions I have the better, so it works out well enough, but it is still ironic.
I expect that I shall have to go in tomorrow though, if the drivers on the Northern Line stay at work.

Date: 2009-06-10 08:20 am (UTC)Thought I’d reduce the chances of me being affected by more stations being closed this evening, so I drove to East Finchley and tubed it in from there.
Fingers, arms, legs and everything else crossed that the next shift of Northern Line staff - when they come on duty (this afternoon?) – don’t shut the whole bloody line...
