While it would be nice to say he just has a dark sense of humour, and we should lighten up, I must admit that I find it disturbing.

I can see the humour in it myself although in fairness to the Germans they are ultra-strict on stuff like this (admittedly with good cause) and I'm sure the guy knew that would be the case. I reckon it will be another fifty years at least before Germany can cope with things like this.
