The first tomato of our burgeoning crop has been picked and has been eaten.

It was very tasty. Why it ripened so far ahead of the rest, I have no idea, but we are in for a treat in the next few weeks.

He is now so landed that I expect he will not take off again.

Suggest name for the establishment be the Valley Forge.

Start saving jars so that at the end of the growing season you can make green tomato chutney from all the ones that refuse to go red. I made a huge panful last year and Mr M has happily been adding it to meals and sandwiches ever since. He is down to the last inch or two in the last jar so I have warned my son-in-law that I am ready to do this year's crop.
