caddymanThe past couple of days I have been wearing my not-quite-matching brown shoes again, after using my newer black ones since New Year. They have taken away my burgeoning superpowers and I have neither received nor given an electric shock for around 48 hours.
Who would have thought that shoe soles could make so much difference? I wonder what shielding there is in my brown shoes that is missing from the black ones? Both appear to be of some strange man-made material and both appear to be similar, but clearly there are major chemical differences in there somewhere.
Anyway, this has forced me to place my hopes for a career as a superhero (or supervillain) on hold. There is no point in honing my electrical abilities if they are entirely dependent upon a certain shoe/carpet combination.
I confess that I am disappointed; sending great arcs of electrical power across Victoria Street would have passed the time quite satisfactorily and provided me with much amusement. On the other hand, I can now make coffee without accidentally zapping myself.
