Buggeration.

I have just written myself into a corner, and I'm not sure how to proceed.

I can either go back, edit and rewrite, or I can become more enigmatic. At some point I have to tie it back into the plot and move forward.

The trouble is, I quite like what I've written, but I have left unresolved plot lines dangling before, safe in the knowledge that they could be picked up and resolved at a later date, in a later event. This time there is no later event, so I have to think of a resolution that can come out this time, not in some unplayable future (that's not to say that there won't be indications of possible future courses for the character - they don't 'live' in a vacuum, after all). A page and a half of enigmatic set up requires some payback for the player, after all.

I am going to have to think about this a little before proceeding.

A little music, I think, before re-entering the fray.

If you're happy with it just leave it in, I'm sure with the characters left to come in we can make it fit somewhere along the line (or at least pretend to and blame it on the player for not noticing the obvious clue trial laid out before them)...

Hmm... I quite like the old standby - "A wizard did it and ran away"
If done with panache it works well.

A dangling plot line is always troublesome, sometimes annoying. Just be careful you don't Blake's7 it.

If I've written it correctly, at least three of my characters should come out of the Grand expecting another series of 5 games to tell the story that they've just started.

At that point I shall direct them towards Ian and run away laughing.
