The standard theory on that comes from the concept of the meme - a self-propogating idea. Wikipaedia has "a unit of cultural information that can be transmitted from one mind to another". It derives from Richard Dawkins work and the meme of the meme has been transmitted on by Sue Blackmore.

Personally I think "Me! Me!" is more appropiate in this context.

I knew that bit; it pops up in the afterword to later editions of The Selfish Gene. Eric Drexler clasped the concept to his breast, too. I just wondered why circulating quizes to your friends counts as a meme.
