I am unpacked - or rather I haven unpacked my stuff, but not the three crates of guff I shoved away for the use of the new lackey whenever she/he is recruited.

The irony about being on the 14th floor as against the 2nd in the other building, is that for the first time in a dog's age I have a window I can open - which is good news since the air conditioning seems to be jammed on 'smelt' for the foreseeable future (I wonder if it went off in the Winter). The view is much improved over that I am used to: viz I have a view, which is not an accusation that anyone could level at my old desk. Of course, my luck being what it is, I have probably the worst view of any going on this floor, but still, it is infinitely better than before. Whilst a goodly chunk of the sky line is blocked off by the roof of Cardinal Place and the Westminster City Hall on the one side and a residential block (which can be seen in the opening credits of The Prisoner by the way) on the other, I can see Big Ben, the London Eye and if I lean back in my chair, the Gherkin1. It's a bit drab and overcast today, but the smoggy haze has cleared enough to permit a reasonable view.

I have my camera in my jacket, so I shall take a couple of panoramic snaps of the Victoria/Westminster/Pimlico area over lunch provided of course that I am not chased away by bemused co-workers.

It is quite nice being in a separate office again (albeit an office shared with two other people) and I have a bit of wall space available for when I find my photograph of Agent Scully, which I packed so carefully I can't locate it.

130 St Mary Axe: "The Gherkin".

St Steven's tower, surely, rather than Big Ben?

You are, of course, absolutely correct. I am a hundred miles away, with my pedantic mind on other things.

Cool - I think I know where you mean.
You're probably just around the corner from the street where No 6 lives too.

I just hope the Service doesn't apply the same policy as the Village re departures.
