This morning I woke up about three quarters of an hour before the alarm went off, acutely conscious of two things. Firstly, I was in desperate need of a pee, secondly, it felt as though I had a layer of hoarfrost on me. Someone – no names, no pack drill - had gathered up the entirety of the KING SIZE duvet and was snoozing in contented warmth.

It is my experience that it will take the bulk of autumn and winter to train her to stop doing this, by which time it will be spring and I shall cast the duvet off myself because I am too hot.

It has been suggested that we get or try to get those large continental duvets where we each have our own generously proportioned duvet to do with as we please. I foresee two problems: firstly, we looked last winter and couldn’t find any (mind you, we didn’t look very hard) and secondly, individual or shared, I doubt it would make a ha’p’orth of difference. A second duvet would be annexed before you could say Sudetenland.

Back to sleeping in a bathrobe and scarf for me, then.

I suggest imposing sanctions followed sending in an army of blue-helmeted bed-bugs to oversee the dismataling of her duvet-stealing apparatus

heheheheheh
I suggest you invest in one of these:

http://www.phdesigns.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=26_62&products_id=95

Keeps you toasty (and I do mean toasty!) at -20 and below.

Plus if 'she who cannot be named' tries to steal it you can inch away like a large angry red catapiller.......

Except that it rarely if ever reaches 20 below in the Athenaeum Club

Staple your side of said duvet to your side of the bed, so the aforementioned un-named entity can't yoink it?

I dunno who this person is you speak of, but the secret is to get the duvet to like you best!

And socks, if you keep your feet warm the rest of you will feel a lot warmer too. Power surges prevent me from wearing them but my duvet likes Mr M best anyway

I ended up sleeping on the sofa under some blankets last night because someone - and again no names, they know who they are - had rolled themselves up in not one but two duvets, like some sort of snoring sausage roll, and refused to wake up and give me any quilt at all despite some quite intense protestation on my part.

Can't live with 'em, can't bury them under the patio without questions being asked.

Put her in one of those "mummy" sleeping bags ... and padlock the zip.
