A lesser man could get a complex about this, but then a lesser man wouldn't get the chance, I guess.

For the past few days, the automatic doors leading into Marks & Spencer's Food Hall just across the way from the office, seem to have jammed partially open. They obviously close at night, but during shop hours the doors seem to wedge about a yard apart.

At lunchtime I was wandering across to buy a sarnie and a couple of yards ahead of me there was a pair of girls walking in the same direction. Ordinary girls, both reasonably slender but not stick insects, walking side by side, chatting. They walked up to the doors and through the gap without breaking stride or conversation.

Not a twitch from the automatic doors; not a quiver.

I walk up and the buggers obligingly open wider. Bloody cheek. That means the sensor has decided that I am wider than two girls walking side by side. Now I know that I’m hardly what you would call svelte, but really…

The answer is simple. They are clearly not automatic doors, but are in fact operated manually through clever use of a CCTV camera aimed at the approach and a man with a piece of string. This man is a twat.

I like your thinking.

I am going to hide outside M&S and kick him on the shins when he comes out.

obviously the sensor is trained on exactly where the gap between them was. As you don't have a gap between you, unless certain buttons are undone, the sensor detected you but missed them completely.

HAH, I laugh in their general direction
