PROMOTION!

My nerves are shot, but The Wolves beat QPR 1-0 at the Molineux this afternoon and we are promoted to the Premiership for only the second time since the Premier League was created in 1992. It is just like the Wolves to do it in the most nerve-jangling fashion possible.

Primarily for my own benefit and knowing that I can no longer jinx my team, here is the Championship table with two games to go:




I feel a visit to the pub in my imminent future...

Wolves has had a special small place in my heart since over forty years ago when Derek Dougan was playing. In my mind's eye I can still see his gap-toothed grin on the 1968 'Star Players' gum card and an interview with him in an early issue of Shoot. I do not know why he caught my imagination. So, I am glad for you (in a year in which my childhood teams have performed ill with Saints and Ipswich looking rather dodgy all season).
