For the first time in many moons, I am wearing a collar and tie, plus a jacket to work. This unwarranted sartorial elegance is down to the fact that we are off to the London Borough of Greenwich this afternoon to discuss their housing finances. It is hard to convey the majesty of government if you look as though you spent the night at the bottom of a rubbish skip, so…
In our last quiz night for a fortnight (next Thursday Furtle and I will be at the O2 Arena to see Eddie Izzard), not only did we win – despite me being unable to call the Battle of Balaclava to mind – but for the first time ever, I picked the right envelope, so in addition to the usual £25 bar tab, I won the jackpot, too. Of course, we couldn’t have won it three weeks ago, when it was up to nearly £400 could we? The jackpot has now gone on three consecutive Thursdays, so we were lucky that we picked up £45 between us. Still, mustn’t complain. It equates to a bit extra spending money on top of a free night out. As we won’t be there next week and the bar tab is only good for a week, we might have to go to the pub and drink BEER over the weekend.
Shame.
In other news, it looks as though there might be stirrings of activity in the higher echelons of our Departmental hierarchy. If that’s the case, in a week or so, I may have to find something else to moan about, but I’ll believe that when it happens.
