Oh, my left shoulder and arm do ache and have done for a couple of days now. Not a deep, all consuming ache, but it does seem to be an abiding one.

Warmth applied to it helps immeasurably, and while I am curled under the duvet with it generously wrapped around that shoulder, all is well. But right now it's nagging me. Not badly, but persistently. I fear that I may have a touch of rheumatism. I dursent like it My Dears, no, not one bit. I dursent like it at all.

Still, today is my last day in the office for a fortnight. I can spend sixteen consecutive days under the duvet if I so wish.

I have a dodgy shoulder. It's age.

What are you going to do with your fortnight off?

We had hoped to go off for a few days here and there, but the new house has swallowed all our spare cash.

I guess we will have to restrict ourselves to day trips here and there and just not being in work!

I had a medical black and decker* taken to my left hip and thigh at a young age (ostio myelitis is now treated with antibiotics). I get occasional weather-related twinges and fully expect to be arthritic/rheumatic later in life. It's still a later life that I wouldn't have had otherwise.

* Genuinely - Mum took a look at the notes on one of my out-patient follow-ups and it listed the kit used - B&D.

Maybe, if you hit your right arm and shoulder real hard, you won´t feel the pain on the left side, anymore? Just an idea. Am not that english, you know!

There is sense in this. If you go as far as bashing your nadgers with a hammer, it'll eclipse the pain in your shoulder.
