I appear to be plat du jour for the local mosquito community. Usually they eschew to chew on me and head straight for Furtle, but these past few days their tastes seem to have taken change of direction and I am now the favoured menu item.

I am sitting here in a little cloud of Tiger Balm, trying not to stain my clothes orange. I have smeared it on a bite on my left shin, on the back of my left hand and on both inside forearms. In addition to those, I am now either imagining itches elsewhere, or getting referred itches. The trouble is, Tiger Balm only soothes the actual bites, not the phantom ones.

I shall have to think about what I used to eat but no longer do. Clearly something has changed to make me more tasty to the local insect community.

I do not wish to be flavoursome.

I don't think I've ever used Tiger Balm on mosquito bites. Is it effective?

It's pretty good at masking the itch, though if you can get a proper antihistamene on the bite while it's fresh, that's better.

Trouble is, the orange version tens to stain your clothes if you aren't VERY careful.

Have you foresworn gin and tonic, by any chance? i vividly remember the torment of Essex mosquitos. Like Latin, "they killed the ancient Romans and now they're killing me". 'Twas a good excuse for a second gin and tonic - we always kept some flat tonic, because i don't like fizz

Maybe I should just make them larger?

I doubt it will stop the bloody things chewing on me, but I might not care so much...

hallo again! it's the tonic that the mosquitos don't like - so you could drink an extra tonic - but where's the fun in that?
