Daddy Cool
Friday, October 7th, 2011 11:25 amI have to say that I am thoroughly enjoying this spot of cooler weather. I know it’s not fashionable, and we are all supposed to bow to the orthodoxy that continued, unseasonable hot weather and accompanying drought is somehow ‘good weather’ but on the whole, I rather prefer the cooler weather.
I think it’s the ability to sleep at night that does it. I like to feel rested. Throughout the summer I am perpetually tired. It gets dark about 10.30, light again at 3.30 and most of the time the temperatures in the house at least mean that sleep is patchy at best. So once the temperatures drop to something more appropriate to these so-called temperate zones in which we live, it is a matter of great rejoicing.
I was caught out this morning by the fact that the Tube was working perfectly. Still, TFL compensated by closing Victoria instead and running the perfectly working trains directly through it. Since I’m not 100% certain of the route back from Sloane Square on foot (yah) I walked over the platform to go back to St James’s Park. Seeing they hadn’t particularly inconvenienced me with their new and innovative approach, TFL reopened Victoria anyway. So I win.
You have to take these small victories where you can.
With any luck, tonight we take delivery of our new sofa (yes, another one). We are putting lounge in er… the lounge.

Date: 2011-10-07 11:04 am (UTC)Our living room is long and thin. We have the TV at one end with a couple of armchairs facing it. The sofa is at the other end and when we have visitors we have to turn the chairs around.
We thought it would be a good idea to have a second sofa, a two seat chesterfield to create our 'visitor space' without having to shift furniture around every time someone popped in to see us. Effectively we have set the room out as if it were still the two rooms it was originally built as, but rather more airy.
