Well, what a let down.

I poked my head out of the window last night at about 1.30 am to find that it was snowing properly. Not heavily but a steady amount. Despite the cold, it was melting and it wasn't coming down fast enough to build up over the damp surfaces.

Nonetheless, I retired hopeful. Imagine then, my disappointment when I awoke this morning. Sunny, clear blue skies. Cold, yes, but sunny. And on the ground was the odd sheen of ice. No snow.

I checked outside and it was the same.

It's still cold, but even the arctic wind we were promised hasn't really materialised. Ho hum.

I'm told that the story is a bit different a bit further north, but London is displaying a woeful lack of Wintry bedeckment.

I can report that South Cambridgeshire and North East Hertforshire received a good dose of snow. Awoke this mornign to 10cm of snow (and ice).

I was forced to take the train in today, not necessarily because the main roads were bad, but given the possibility of more snow up here this afternoon/evening I thought it more prudent (to be stuck for hours on the A1 does not appeal somehow)

I expect Young Grumpo is all excited by the snow?

Oh yes. However she will be more excited next weekend when we are in Sweden surveying our plot of land and she can walk on the frozen lake...

Why? Why do you want all the streets turned into a shiney white booby trap?

So's he can skip work because he 'might not be able to get home'. Honestly. Don't you plan fun things to do on tube strikes?

Was snowing reasonably heavy in Belfast about an hour ago but now the sun is splitting the trees and what little lay has melted. Mind you I hate the snow so it's all good for me.
