Tasteless

I'll tell you now that I am rather exasperated. And partially amused, but mainly exasperated.

For no reason that I can work out, the office firewall has started blocking my and my friends' LJ pages on the grounds that they are tasteless.

I mean good grief.

I fully accept the firewall policy of blocking access to pornographic or racist sites and a number of other subjects which don't spring to mind immediately, but which are not massively surprising. But tasteless? And my LJ? What have I, or any of my LJ friends written in the past 12 hours that should throw that up? Or is the firewall just getting snarky?

I don't know.

I do know that I can still get to my journal from work, but I have to do so in a round about manner, and remember not to use the refresh button. It's all very odd.

And damn it all; it's not tasteless.

Not recently, anyway.

Does your place use WebSense to block 'dodgy' sites? I heard that they were classifying LJ as that... (from [livejournal.com profile] ginmar)

Firewalls can sometimes be less of a blessing than they're intended to be.
I'm sorry.

Erm, might have been my post. Does it block bad language and feelings of hate?

Is it possible it's all down to a webcam commenting on your dress sense?

I had the same problem at my school. It said my journal was tasteless.

It would make a lot of sense, if LJ had been put on a firewall blacklist then as firewalls look up the revised blacklist then they will prevent people form accessing them. As a huge wave of disgruntled noise hits the firewall company it gets taken of the blacklist again. So if ginmar's empoyers blacklisted LJ then LJ gets blacklisted on all Firewalls using that look up list.
