IT problem solved

A few days ago I posted a request for help because Firefox had stopped finding the latest versions of webpages automatically, meaning I had to hit the refresh button to ensure I was getting the latest postings on LJ.

Nobody knew the answer, or if they did, no-one volunteered one.

Anyway I have, after an online chat with [livejournal.com profile] boroshan, solved it for myself. The default cache setting on Firefox is 50,000kb. I have emptied the cache reduced the size to 5,000kb, forcing the browser to look up pages with more regularity.

I thought people might like to know just in case the same problem hits their PC.

Thank you, James.

I understand the Irish Sea is quite cold this time of year...

Interesting. IE has a setting which says (something along the lines of) "check for a new version every time, even if you have a version cached already". Does Firefox not have such a setting?
